Petaloudes is a valley in northwestern Rhodes, and is known as “the butterfly valley”. The butterfly species lives in this valley. C. Quadripunctaria Rhodosensi. This moth (which is also active during the day) keeps its summer rest in the butterfly valley to escape the heat. In July and August you can see countless of these colorful critters fluttering in the valley.
